Now I have been in NZ for two months, and there're some things that I've learned about the country and the people who live here:

1. NewZealanders love to say stereotyped NZ-ish things like "sweet as", "cheers" and "good on ya, mate/bro", which is kind of funny.
2. The weather in winter in impossible to predict. Like the other day there was a tornado and an earthquake. A little strange for a Dane who's used to rain, rain and then some more rain.
3. Apparantly all kids who grow up here loves Marmite, even though it's the most disgusting thing on earth.
4. All New Zealanders hate Auckland.
5. You can't go down here and not do a skydive.. Seriously.. I have always been saying that the last thing I wanted to do was jumping out of a plane, however, suddenly I found myself zooming towards Lake Taupo from 12000 ft with 200 km/h. Also I have met heaps of people down here, who already did or was going to do a skydive, even though they sweared they were incredibly scared of heights.
6. New Zealanders are extremely proud of their old buildings. Evrywhereyou go, you see something called "The oldest house in...". Until now I've seen "The oldest house in NZ", "The oldest house in The Bay of Plenty", "The oldest library in NZ" AND "The oldest stone building in NZ". And the best part is that theese buildings aren't really that old. Most of them were built in the 18th century.. Hmm..
7. People love to tell us winter tourists that we "have come at the wrong time of the year". That kind of sucks..
8. ALL New Zealanders hate Australians. They even have a TV programme where Kiwis compete against Aussies.
9. Apparantly all Germans have decided to go to NZ. You can't stay in a hostel without meeting at least one German.
10. They have some strange concept called "midwinter christmas", but no one seems to celebrate it.

I can conclude that the Kiwis are not like the rest of us. They are a special little cluster of people, who are really proud of who they are. I still feel like I have a lot to learn about them, and I hope it will come in time.
